Limitation on Applications for the July 2026 NextGen UBE

The Connecticut Bar Examining Committee (CBEC) established a limitation of 600 total applications that will be accepted for the July 2026 NextGen Uniform Bar Examination. It is unknown how the number of applications for the NextGen UBE in July 2026 will compare to the number of applications for prior Legacy UBE July examinations. This limitation is therefore necessary due to constraints with existing resources related to administration of the bar examination.
  1. The CBEC will accept no more than 600 total applications to sit for the NextGen UBE in Connecticut in July 2026;
  2. Prioritization of applications – the CBEC will accept applications on a first-come-first-served basis from the following groups in order of priority:
    1. Applicants who will be taking a bar examination for the first time in any U.S. jurisdiction;
    2. Applicants who were unsuccessful on the July 2025 Legacy UBE in Connecticut and/or the February 2026 Legacy UBE in Connecticut, subject to eligibility under Article III-1 (D) of the CBEC Regulations;
    3. All other applicants, subject to eligibility under Article III-1 (D) of the CBEC Regulations.

The application filing dates, deadlines, and fees can be found here.
