Connecticut Bar Examining Committee

The July 2026 Connecticut bar examination will be administered in-person on July 28 & 29, 2026, at the Connecticut Convention Center in Hartford, CT. The examination will be the NextGen Uniform Bar Examination. The application filing period, filing fee, deadlines, and filing priorities are listed below.

July 2026 NextGen Uniform Bar Examination Application Limitation and Filing Priorities


  1. The CBEC will accept no more than 600 applications for the NextGen UBE in Connecticut in July 2026.
  2. The application filing period is from March 1, 2026, to April 30, 2026, or until 600 total applications have been received, whichever occurs first, and subject to the filing priorities outlined below.
  3. The filing fee will be $900 for all applicants.
  4. Prioritization of Applications:
    1. March 1 – March 15, 2026: Applications will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis only from those taking a bar examination for the first time in any U.S. jurisdiction (“First-time applicants”);
    2. March 16 – March 31, 2026: Applications will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis only from First-time applicants and applicants who were unsuccessful on the July 2025 Legacy UBE in Connecticut, subject to eligibility under Article III-1 (D) of the CBEC Regulations (see item #6 below);
    3. April 1 – April 30, 2026: Applications will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis from all applicants subject to eligibility under Article III-1 (D) of the CBEC Regulations (see item #6 below).
  5. Applicants who are unsuccessful on the February 2026 CT bar examination and who are eligible under Article III-1 (D) of the CBEC Regulations (see item #6 below), may file an application for the July 2026 examination from April 24, 2026 (the date that February 2026 results are released) until May 15, 2026 per Art. III-1 (C) of the CBEC Regulations.
  6. Article III-1 (D) of the CBEC Regulations states:
    “After four (4) unsuccessful attempts on the Connecticut bar examination, an applicant may file an application only for the February administration of the bar examination.”
